January

Meet January, Our bottle fed Bison!

Meet January, our bottle fed bison!

Naturally, bison breed in August and calves are typically born in May.  Bison do not calve in barns, they are wild animals and cannot be helped with the birthing process.

January of 2021, we found one of our bison calves that was born in the middle of a snow storm and had zero chance of survival without us, frozen near a tree. As any good farmer would do, we rescued her, thawed her out and bottle fed her round the clock for months, we became her momma. This is how she got her name, January.

Recently as horse ranchers and riders, we decided to give it a go with Miss January and see if we could turn her into our new, all around ranch horse. So far, we have been successful!

See more of January!
